The International Open University (IOU) strongly believes that sponsoring an underprivileged student’s education is one of the best charitable ways one can spend their money, as not only does it benefit the student and the community around them, but also benefits the donor with hassanat (good deeds) whenever that knowledge is used and shared.
There are thousands of Muslim students across the world who dream of education but do not have the means or resources to pursue it. The Global Quran Memorization Center’s scholarship program aims to fulfill the dreams of such students who are living in medium or low developed countries and already memorized the entire Quran (or 20 Juz") with a very good level of memorization and Tajweed rules, and want to receive a certificate of memorization or Ijazah (certification).
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), said: “Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Scholarship Recipients
We at the International Open University (IOU) and Global Quran Memorization Center (GQMC) have a responsibility to protect any sadaqah (charity) and zakat that is given to us. And as such, we need to be clear about what a Quran scholarship means.
We ask that you take the following into consideration before applying:
- You intend to complete the Ijazah or the Khatma of memorization within 6 to 10 consecutive months in the program (without absence, tardiness, laziness, and catch-ups)
- This is not an Arabic course.
- The money used for these scholarships is an Amanah (Trusts for Allah), and if you use them unwisely then you may lose hassanat (good deeds).
- Do not come for a trial period of two to three months.
- A student is granted a scholarship for a single program at a time.
- A student must be dedicated and serious in order to deserve the GQMC Ijazah/Hifz Certificate.
If you believe you cannot commit to the above guidelines, it is advised to apply when you are ready to fully commit as other deserving students could use this opportunity.
