Will I receive an ijaazah after completing the memorization of the Quran?

No, after completing the one-on-one Quran Memorization course, a student will be awarded a certificate only. To receive an approved ijaazah, join our Ijaazah program. For more details, visit: http://www.iou-gqmc.com/ijazah/

What certificates will I receive upon successful completion of the course?

You will be granted a certificate of completion of the juz you have successfully memorized.

Will the live classes be recorded?

Yes, the live sessions are recorded. This is to have evidence in case of any complaint from the student’s side or from the teacher. In this way, the administrator has the opportunity to return to the recording and investigate the problem. Note that the recordings are kept under highly restrictive secrecy, and they are automatically removed from Zoom every two weeks.

Will the certificate be attested?

Yes, it will be attested by the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education of Somalia, in sha’ Allah.

Will I receive a certificate upon memorization of some surahs?

The students of our one-on-one program will be granted a certificate upon memorizing complete juz (chapters) – not particular surahs.

Where does the study take place?

The International Open University is an online educational resource. The entire program is taught online via Internet. Anybody from any part of the world can join easily and benefit from it, in sha’ Allah. The one-on-one Quran Memorization live sessions are mainly conducted via Skype or WizIQ.

I have already memorized some surahs/juz. Will I have to memorize them again with the teacher?

In such cases, you will be requested to recite the parts of the Quran which you have already memorized to the teacher and then you may continue your study according to your scheme, in sha’ Allah.

What if I have a slow Internet connection?

Since the program is completely based on live classes, it is compulsory that the students have a high speed Internet connection to make the best use of all the services.

Is an English language certification like TOEFL or IELTS required?

No. English language certification is not a requirement to apply for the One-on-One Quran Memorization program. However, you should be aware that English is the medium of instruction in the entire program.

Will the classes be conducted in the month of Ramadan?

The classes during Ramadan will be conducted as always. However, teachers have a right to cancel the live sessions during the last 10 days of Ramadan. These sessions will not be made up for.
Additionally, the first two days of Eid are officially off.

When is the enrollment open?

The enrollment is open from 1st to 10th of every month.

Do I need to pay any fee to study?

Yes, you need to pay a modest registration fee for each month you are enrolled in. To see the sliding scale fees, click here.

I was unenrolled since I did not pay on time, can I pay now and join my old slot again?

In most cases, it is possible. However, before paying the fee please ensure that your slot is still available and contact us at at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm

I have received an email to reupload my photo/ID scan. What do I do once I have taken care of that?

Once you have reuploaded your photo/ID scan, email us at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm so that we may verify the status of your uploads, in sha’ Allah.

What is a photo ID?

A photo ID is a legal identity document with your photograph in it (e.g. national ID card, passport, driver’s license, etc.). The document must be valid and include your full name and birth date.

How do I virtually sign the disclaimer form?

After reading the disclaimer carefully, sign it in the registration form by ticking the last box “Disclaimer” which states: “I have read and agree to the Disclaimer Form of GQMC”. There is no need to submit a document with your traditional signature.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

In order to reset your password, click on the ‘forgotten password’ button located just under the log in fields. If your password reset was not successful and you are still unable to log in, email at gqmc.helpdesk@iou.edu.gm . Please do not create a new account; having multiple accounts with IOU is not allowed under any circumstances.
